Luka Modric scored for Real Madrid in the 20th minute, after he rebounded from the crossbar after Asensio's shot, while Fidel Chavez scored for Elche from a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.
With this draw, Real Madrid raised its score to 33 points in second place in the table behind leaders Atlético de Madrid, and Elche raised his tally to 16 points in fifteenth place.
