Handball The International Federation postpones the world qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics


The International Handball Federation has announced the postponement of the World Olympic qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics for men and women competitions until next year.

In its statement published on its official website, the International Federation issued that it is watching with interest the outbreak of the new Corona virus and its impact on the handball activity that has stopped due to this virus, and given the difficulty of resuming the matches, preserving the health of the players and all those involved in these activities.

Accordingly, the International Handball Federation, headed by Dr. Hassan Mustafa, announced the amendment of the dates of many international competitions, the most prominent of which are:

The holding of the global qualifiers competitions for the Tokyo Olympics for men's competitions to obsolescence from 12 to 14 March 2021, and was scheduled for the period from 17 to 19 April, but was postponed due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus, and these qualifiers will be held in Norway, France and Germany.

Tunisia and Algeria will participate in the qualifiers as a representative of the African continent, where the Carthage Eagles are in the second group, which includes France, Croatia and Portugal, while the desert warriors are in the third group accompanied by Germany, Sweden and Slovenia, while the first group includes Norway, Brazil, Chile and South Korea.

Two teams from each group will qualify, taking the number of participants in handball competitions at the 12th Olympic Games in Tokyo.

6 teams qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, who are world champion Denmark, Egypt, Africa and Bahrain, qualified for the Asian qualifiers and Argentina, after winning the handball competition in the American Games and Spain, the European champion.
